An open dialogue on water sustainability was conducted with the collaboration of the French Embassy and the Alliance Française de Suva last Friday.

As many as 30 people attended the event, to listen to SUEZ Consulting Project manager Quentin Etcheverry make a presentation titled, “Drop by drop: the journey of water”.

He felt there was a lack of knowledge “on how water works” and shed light on the critical topics of water portability and sanitation.

The presentation aimed to bridge the gap between scientific understanding and public awareness of the significant role of water and its essential function in sustaining life.

It also addressed the underlying issue surrounding water sustainability, offering valuable insights to help alleviate it.

Mr Quentin said he was providing technical assistance to the Water Authority of Fiji, in a project funded by the European Union through the European Investment Bank.

He said part of the assistance was training operators and providing them with technical assistance, tools, and models to help them “do their jobs”.

The French-based consultant has already helped with the construction of 11 water treatment plants.
