DEFENCE is top of the list on Osea Kolinisau’s mind for the Fiji Airways Fiji men’s 7s team for the Hong Kong 7s, which starts today.

Kolinisau says it is an area that has costed them greatly and he will not leave anything to chance for his players to slip through any cracks in their performance on the field at Kai Tak.

“Our defence needs to get better, Our defence is letting us down,” Kolinisau said.

He highlighted how in Vancouver, it costed them when missed tackles were made and the players opted to exert energy in chasing for the ball instead.

“We were not in control and that is something I told the boys; attacks wins you games but defence will win you championships,” Kolinisau stressed.

“We have got to love defending, and our defending has to be good, one-on-one, and especially our set-pieces, our kick-offs.

“I know teams are targeting our kick offs, our take offs as well.”

This area is what Kolinisau pointed out as a key factor being exposed for other teams to work on taking advantage of.
