APIA, 16 MARCH 2020 (TALAMUA ONLINE NEWS) – Wallaby rugby legend David Campese has been refused travel to Samoa from Fiji as travel restrictions tighten to protect against the coronavirus entering Samoa.

The former Wallaby winger was scheduled in Samoa today as part of a collaboration between the University of Newcastle’s Oceania Ambassador programme and the Samoa Rugby Union.

Campese was to conduct clinics at Leulumoega College, Leifiifi College, and Pesega starting this morning.

However, a rushed notice from the Samoa Rugby Union last night advised that “because David Campese was refused travel to Samoa from Fiji, Samoa Rugby Union has been advised the planned clinics for tomorrow and Tuesday have been cancelled.”

It is one of many planned events that required travel into the region and Samoa that have been cancelled as protection against the entry of the coronavirus. Australia is one of the 33 countries listed with COVID-2019 cases that require stringent travel screening.

The Samoa Ministry of Health insists that there is no case of the virus in Samoa as rumours and misinformation circulate on social media.

The latest Travel Advisory that came into effect Sunday said since the declaration by WHO.
