Despite the recent passing of his mother, Fijian boxer Ratu Rakuro Daunivavana is still determined to fight Dylan Archer of New Zealand in the Blue Water Boxing Promotion on March 2 at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.

Daunivavana, from Buca Bay in Cakaudrove, expressed that while it has been a difficult time for him, he is committed to fighting and winning in honour of his late mother.

He acknowledged that some fans and supporters may have thought he would pull out of the fight, but he assured he was ready to step into the ring.

The light middleweight fighter has been training rigorously for three months and feels well prepared for the upcoming bout.

“I know Dylan Archer is a fast fighter and he will be coming in strong, the main thing I’m really focused on is improving my defense skills and working on counter punches and attacking strategies,” said Daunivavana.

He believes his opponent is a good technical fighter, but is confident that Archer does not have the heavy punching power to match his own.

He is determined to let his performance speak for itself in the ring.

Daunivanua expressed gratitude for the support he has received and promised fans an exciting fight on March 2, with the intention of securing a victory in his mother’s honour.

In the main bout, Joseph Kwadjo will be facing Alivereti Kauyaca for the cruiserweight champion title while Ubaud Haider, formerly known as Nathan Singh, will take on Mohammed Ali in the main supporting lightweight bout.
