THE current road death toll stands at 47 compared to 44 for the same period last year.
This is aftre an eight-year-old girl who was a victim of a motor vehicle accident after she was bumped by a car while walking along the Queens Road in Vatukarasa, Sigatoka, passed at the Lautoka Hospital yesterday.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the victim was walking along the road with an 18-year-old when they were hit by an oncoming vehicle earlier this month.
“The 18-year-old victim from Namada village was discharged from Hospital yesterday,” Ms Naisoro said.
She said investigations continue and the suspect who is in his 60s will be brought in for questioning once the post mortem is completed.
