Fijian Police have advised members of the public to refrain from non–essential movement within their containment areas.

Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu said restrictions had been issued to help in protecting the people of Fiji from the pandemic.

He said non–essential movements by people did not assist in the cause.

“Only those in emergency and essential services will be permitted to move around the containment areas,” ACP Tudravu said.

“Remember when people move the virus also moves, therefore, all Fijians are requested to stay home and assist the nation in the fight against the COVID-19 virus.”

Arrests imminent

ACP Tudravu warns that anyone found in breach of the restrictions in place will be arrested under the Public Health Act.

“Please be responsible and we don’t want to arrest people, however, we will do so if people continue to disregard instructions given.”

Passes

Passes will not be issued from any police premises because of the COVID–19 restrictions in place; and passes will only be issued to essential business operators.

ACP Tudravu said companies and individuals who sought COVID–19 passes would have to use the email platforms: polcurfewpass@gmail.com or dopsplanning@gmail.com

Those who do not have access to emails or the internet can call either of the following numbers that will be used to receive reports:
