The 48th Fiji Institute of Accountants Congress scheduled for this May at the Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa in Sigatoka has been postponed.

FIA president Nitesh Lal said the postponement was in light of the recent developments on the impact of the COVID-19 in Fiji and the Pacific.

“Although this is most unfortunate, the safety and well-being of our members and delegates is most paramount and we do not wish to put anyone at risk,” Mr Lal said.

“With the current regulations that have been put in place, the Institute believes that for our own safety, we need to adhere to the advisories and public health awareness messages released by Government.”

He said FIA would continue to monitor the situation before announcing a new date, or cancelling the congress until next year, if situation worsens.
