The Fiji Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) continue with business inspections around the country, checking on strict COVID-19 safety measure compliance, and stock and supply surveillance.
Since April 20 this year when the FCCC commenced these inspections at the height of the first outbreak of COVID-19, it had now to date conducted 2305 of it, covering the four major divisions in the country.
And on Monday, May 31 (2021), alone, it completed 156 inspections – 76 for stock and supply surveillance, and 80 to check on compliance for COVID-19 safety measures.
Of those 156 inspections, the FCCC stated that 66 were conducted in the Central Division, eight in the Western Division, and 82 in the Northern Division.
For the COVID-19 safety measure check, it stated that all 80 traders were found to be practising those precautions.
“With regard to domestic supply chains, FCCC continues to provide assistance in normalising sugar supplies and is in regular communication with the Fiji Sugar Corporation and respective traders,” it stated.
“Since the implementation of COVID-19 safety measures by the Fijian Government and the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, teams from FCCC have been on the ground conducting inspections for stock and compliance with COVID-19 safety measures.”
