ABOUT 300 Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints missionaries from the Pacific were repatriated to Salt Lake City on a special flight on Saturday night.

Fiji Airways managing director and CEO Andre Viljoen said the flight was chartered by the United States-based religious organisation.

“Fiji Airways operated a private charter flight for a group to Salt Lake City departing Nadi last night,” he said.

“The aircraft will return via Los Angeles with freight only.

“Fiji Airways continues to work through the logistics and approvals required for evacuation flights to/from the United States and other countries to allow citizens to return home.”

The missionaries were flown in from Tonga, Kiribati and the Marshall Islands to board the airbus from the Nadi International Airport.
