The High Court in Lautoka has refused bail to two persons charged with a count each of unlawful possession of illicit drugs and one of attempted unlawful exploitation of illicit drugs.
Alzaid Shain Rizwan Ali, 48, and Grace Katia Liuvoliga, 19, appeared yesterday before High Court judge Justice Riyaz Hamza.
The pair are alleged to have been involved in the transfer and transportation of 12.33 kilograms of cocaine at the Vuda Bypass Rd in Lautoka on February 15.
They have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The State objected to bail and sought time to file the affidavit.
Justice Hamza told the court the State would be relying on the caution interview statements of the two.
Defence lawyer Iqbal Khan said if the State was filing any further disclosures, it should be done as soon as possible.
The matter has been adjourned to April 30 for hearing.
