THE Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources, Ashneel Sudhakar today launched the Geospatial Information Management Council’s website in which he highlighted will benefit and improve decisions made to better the lives of Fijians.

“The launch of the council website is a way to make excellent use of the technology available to further prominence of activities of the council,” Mr Sudhakar said.

“As your Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources, I would appreciate the benefit of using geospatial information for the execution of service delivery in the Ministry and how it has improved the way decisions are made to better the lives of our citizens,” he said.

“It is worth noting that this website will become the face of the council and the information it contains will not only benefit the members of the council but Geospatial experts and anyone novice to the term Geospatial.

“Most importantly is has shaped and enabled us to get where we are today and at the same time leading us to this new and exciting initiative.”

Mr Sudhakar said Fiji as a whole is getting better through the council meetings and this can only be made special by the support and contributions by Fiji Geospatial Information stakeholders and its users.

“It is the duty of this council to look at means of contextualizing these practices to be relevant to the local settings.”

”This is critical in ensuring that these modern approaches will continue in the long term and benefit users and stakeholders.”
