THE 5th Annual Scientific Conference underway at the Peninsula International Hotel in Suva will be an opportunity to collectively address key issues faced by physicians and internal medicine specialists in the area of disability in their home countries.

Fiji’s Minister for Health and Medical Services Rosy Akbar made this comment while officiating at the event today.

She said it was her hope that deliberations from the conference would help participants effectively understand the magnitude of disability issues in our countries, and also offer guidance to potential solutions to address those challenges.

“The educational awareness and training of health professionals to address prevention and treatment of disability will also be an important outcome of this two-day meeting,” Ms Akbar she said.

The theme of the conference is ‘Effectively tackling disability issues in resource-deprived settings’.

More from this conference coming up.
