Police have confirmed receiving an official complaint from SODELPA management board member Seremaia Tuiteci that $22,000 was allegedly missing from the party’s financial report.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime Mesake Waqa confirmed receiving the report from Mr Tuiteci, who also told this newspaper yesterday he was resigning from the management board because the party was heading in a different direction.
“This is to confirm that CID headquarters received a report from Mr Seremaia Tuiteci, an allegation of misappropriation of funds at the SODELPA head office,” said Mr Waqa.
“The report has been registered and is now under investigation.”
Speaking to this newspaper, Mr Tuiteci confirmed lodging the complaint before attending last Friday’s management board meeting.
“I made an official complaint on Wednesday and the police called that Friday.
“They wanted me to go see them on Friday but I had to head back to Yasawa, so I went to give my statement that same day.
“Unfortunately, I left before the board voted.”
He said the complaint was lodged in relation to alleged fraud.
“We found there was $22,000 missing.
“I went through the report and found that the money was nowhere to be found, so I lodged a complaint that Wednesday.
“The report was tabled during the management board meeting.”
