A WORKSHOP which was attended by members of civil society organisations and non-governmental organisations yesterday focused on the review of the National Security Strategy 2016 and beyond document that will also outline Government holistic and its approach to national security.

In his address at the National Security Strategy (NSS) consultation workshop in Suva, Ministry of Defence and National Security permanent secretary Osea Cawaru reminded the participants that they were an integral part of review processes.

“As for today’s process that we engage in constructive discussions on how to ensure that the revised National Security Strategy (NSS) 2019-2023 is holistic and equally important in practical and achievable,” Mr Cawaru said.

“The draft National Security Strategy 2016 and Beyond offered a broad concept of National Security defining National Security to mean both traditional and non-traditional security and the renewal of relationships both internally and externally,” he said.

Mr Cawaru said it had been two years since the draft of the 2016 NSS was formulated and now the strategy was up for review.
