Fijian Broadcasting Corporation chairman Ajay Amrit has called for an investigation into the spending of Public Service Broadcasting (PSB) fee or grant from government by FBC over which has totaled up to $93 million over the past 14 years.

Mr Amrit said since the current CEO Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum took over in 2008, the total spending currently stood at $93,782,811.45

He also confirmed reports were true regarding the purchase of a vehicle by Mr Sayed-Khaiyum which cost nearly $200,000.

“Accountability and transparency has been brought up In Parliament many times over the past few years and it saddens me to have to confirm reports are true regarding the purchase of a vehicle for the CEO that has cost the company nearly $200,000 dollars,” he said.

“My Board and I consider it highly inappropriate and this certainly isn’t the direction the new government and the now FBC board want to go in, this is extravagance at its greatest.”
