The Vanua Levu Landowners Association president Tevita Raiova is urging authorities to reinstate the Bua Forest Company.
During the Fiji Pine Group of Companies board meeting, Mr Raiova said the company was set up to protect the interests of pine landowners in the region.
“We need to bring back the Bua Forest Company,” he said.
“It was our voice and our support when there were issues concerning our land and pine.”
Unfortunately, Mr Raiova said the landowners were instructed to shut the company down.
“This decision left the landowners without a platform to address their concerns effectively. “We are determined to fight for the reinstatement of the Bua Forest Company.
“We believe it’s essential for safeguarding their interests and ensuring fair treatment in the management of their pine forests.
In response, Fiji Pine Group of Companies chair Ratu Rakuita Vakalalabure said they would always ensure that they maintain a good relationship with the landowners.
“We ensure time and effort must be spent in all areas regarding the complaints raised by landowners,” Ratu Rakuita said.
“I think this concern is valid.” Ratu Rakuita said they worked with the legal body to deal with issues raised by the Landowner Trust.
