Two teams will take part as curtain-raiser for the Fiji Secondary Schools rugby league national finals in July.
The Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League Association board has approved the U19 Vanua Levu Selection Schoolboys vs Viti Levu Selection Schoolboys teams to be the curtain-raiser during the grand finale.
FSSRLA secretary Dan Vakamoce said it would be the first time for them to take part in grand final as they would want to follow the footsteps of Tui Kamikamica, Taniela Sadrugu, Semi Valemei, Iosefo Masi, Joe Dakuitoga, Semi Radradra and many more that came from the North.
“As the zone finals are around the corner, all the teams will play their cards right and not underestimating one another team since everyone are here to have a piece of cake,” he said.
“They will work out their game plans according to the conditions on the day to suit their campaign.”
The FSSRLA national quarter-finals will be held at Garvey Park, Tavua on June 18.
Top four teams from each grades (U15,U17 & U19) from the two zones (South East and West) will be vying to secure their spot in the national semi-finals on June 25 and the grand final on July 2 at Ratu Cakobau Park.
During the FSSRLA Vodafone Trophy grand final, the State of Origin between the South Eastern vs Western School girls teams will again take place where South Eastern School Girls will try and defend the Daunivalu Trophy.
“The female principal from Seaqaqa Central College Vasemaca Drokamaisau has been appointed by the FSSRLA board to be the NSSRLA interim president and will be assisted by Ilikena Tomasi the principal from Navatu Secondary School.
“Who knows what will happen during the national finals on might be few upsets will take place during the day.”
