THE payout of the additional performance bonus to the employees of Fiji Ports Terminal Ltd (FPTL) for the financial year 2017 of $376,000 was an early Christmas gift for the ports terminal employees this festive season.
The payment was additional to the $428,248 performance payout made in October this year and was in recognition of the significant contribution made by FPTL employees towards improving port efficiencies and productivity.
The Fiji Ports Terminal Ltd enjoyed its desired height of success during 2018 and was well on the path to undertake greater challenges in 2019.
FPTL chairman Hasmukh Patel said it was through the untiring support, commitment and willingness of the Fiji Ports Terminal Ltd dedicated workforce.
“In order to achieve this, the company will once again invest in new technologies, new machines and continue with upgrading the skills of human capital with a wide range of training program to be conducted both locally and overseas,” Mr Patel said.
“During the last board meeting a CAPEX of $5.5 million was approved for new machinery and technologies and a further quarter million dollars for enhancement of human capital.”
Shareholder Fiji Ports Corporation Ltd is completing the restoration works on crane Amigo.
“Having the second mobile harbour crane operational in Suva will boost out productivity and overall port efficiency to a new level,” he said.
