Biman attacks blame game
Past governments who are now copping the blame for everything that goes wrong in Government have also contributed to the nation’s development, says the National Federation Party.
NFP leader Prof Biman Prasad said Fiji’s history and industries began well before 2006 and was the result of hard work by farmers, entrepreneurs and landowners.
Prof Prasad said the present administration needed to be reminded that everything good in Fiji existed long before they came on to the scene.
He was speaking during the party’s annual general meeting on Saturday in Suva. Fiji’s history did not begin in 2006, says National Federation Party leader Prof Biman Prasad.
Speaking at the party’s annual general meeting at Albert Park in Suva on Saturday, Prof Prasad said Fiji’s current leaders needed to be reminded of this fact. He said all the things that were good about Fiji were here long before then.
“I remind our current leaders that Fiji’s history did not begin in 2006,” he said. “Our economy was built by farmers, workers, entrepreneurs and the owners of land who generously shared it with them.
“Our schools were built by religious and social organisations and led by committed and legendary teachers.
“Our health system was staffed by many local pioneering doctors and professionals.
“The Fiji National Provident Fund, the Housing Authority, the tourism industry – these were all built up by the same ‘past governments’ that are now blamed for everything which goes wrong by our 14-year-old two-man government.”
Prof Prasad said it was time to look to the future and not dwell on the past. “But now we must look to the future. This is a time full of challenges.
“This year and the next two years of our time will test to the limit the resilience and patience of our people.”
