Bail extended for Waqainabete

FORMER Ministry of Transport spokesperson, Sainiana Waqainabete’s bail has been extended by the Suva Magistrates Court.

Ms Waqainabete appeared today before Magistrate Waleen George whereby lawyers from both sides were to inform the court that of their closing submissions.

Defence lawyer Filimoni Vosarogo informed the court that he would like to elaborate on his closing submissions that he had filed.

FICAC lawyer Rashmi Aslam stated that it would take him 30 minutes to elaborate on his closing submissions.

Ms Waqainabete is charged with nine counts of obtaining financial advantage by deception.

It is alleged that she obtained a total of $5,760 over nine separate occasions between May 2010 and June 2011.

The case has been adjourned to August 17 for both parties to make their submissions.
