A POLICE officer and a Vodafone Fiji staff who are charged with corruption-related offences had their bail extended by the Suva Magistrates Court this morning.

Vodafone Fiji Specialist in Fraud, Risk and Corporate Security Rajneal Rakesh Kumar is charged with two counts of bribery.

Police Sergeant Nilesh Kumar is charged with a count each of aiding and abetting bribery and abuse of office.

It is alleged that Mr Rajneal without lawful authority solicited an advantage of $7000 from a person between July 1 and December 31, 2018, in Suva.

It is also alleged that he accepted an advantage of $4000 from two people in Nadi.

It is further alleged that Mr Nilesh colluded with Mr  Rajneal to obtain $7000 from a person whose case was a pending investigation with the Fiji Police Force and that investigation will be affected once the money is paid, which was prejudicial to the rights of Vodafone Fiji Limited.

FICAC lawyer Jessie Lagonilakeba served the second phase of disclosures.

Magistrate Asanga Bodaragama has adjourned the case to March 7.
