Ba football have bounced back to winning ways, following their 3-1 win over Lautoka in round six of the Digicel Fiji Premier League (DFPL) at the Fiji FA academy ground in Ba yesterday.
Backed by their vocal home fans, the Men In Black created more opportunities at the start of the match and applied pressure on the Lautoka defence.
Penisoni Tirau, who started for Ba in midfield, opened the scoring for the Men In Black, early in the match, as they took a one-nil lead.
Lautoka applied pressure soon after with Edwin Shyam, orchestrating the Blues attack.
Both team’s failed to pick up momentum and capitalise on the opportunities with a number of stoppages with few players received medical treatments because of foul play.
Lautoka equalised late in the first half through a goal from Saula Waqa.
Both team’s went into the break one-all after a closely contested first half.
Ba looked the more confident team in the second half, creating a number of chances with Etonia Dogalau putting them ahead in the 62nd minute, following a miscommunication in the Blues defense which led to the goal.
As the match went on, the Blues were not able to match the pace and momentum of the Men In Black, as youngster Ryan Naresh who replaced Penisoni Tirau late in the match made an instant impact, scoring the third goal for Ba late in the match for a 3-1 win.
Ba Football head coach Daniel Krishneel acknowledged his players for the win.
“The boys delivered the results today and trusted each other.
“We achieved the results that we wanted and all the credit should go to the boys as they did the hard yards.”
Krishneel added that at the break, tied at 1-all, the boys were told to be patient and spread the ball around in the second spell.
“We told them to be confident and calm in front of the goal.”
