In a display of unwavering dominance, the Avengers Volleyball Club secured their grip on the Suva Volleyball Association Challenge Cup for an unprecedented 10th consecutive time.
Fiji volleyball rep sensation Joji Katia showcased a stellar performance, leading the charge to victory against a formidable opponent, Naiqasiqasi, in a thrilling five-set showdown.
The Lau lad was a key to the win; his exceptional gameplay proved instrumental, inspiring the team to yet another glorious triumph and solidifying their status as volleyball giants.
“We started slow, and Naiqasiqasi capitalised on it, but I told the boys to stick to the game plan and play as a team,” he said.
“Shout out to the boys for playing to their best today, and credit goes to Naiqasiqasi for a great challenge. We will now look to reset and go again next week.”
Despite a fierce challenge from Naiqasiqasi, the Avengers remained resolute, ultimately triumphing with a hard-fought 3-2 set victory.
Avengers have been defending the Challenge Cup since the games for this new season began in September of last year and have continued to be dominant in the weekly competition.
In some other results on Saturday, Poison defeated Tamavua, Hanua defeated Young Viri, and USP defeated Qauia. In the women’s competition, USP defeated Hanua, Savura 2 defeated Liberty, and Dateline Titans 2 defeated Young Viri.
