AUSTRALIA has issued a travel advisory to its citizens, alerting them about the measles outbreak in Fiji.

The November 8 dated advisory is asking Australians coming to Fiji to be vigilant.

“Make sure your vaccinations are up-to-date before you go. Seek medical assistance if you experience any symptoms,” states the advisory.

“The standard of medical facilities in Fiji is not as high as in Australia.”

The advisory also alerts Australians on the standard of service at hospitals.

“Public hospitals and medical facilities are generally not as well-equipped as hospitals in Australia for services, specialist equipment (including neo-natal), diagnostics and pharmaceuticals. Many regional hospitals provide only basic services.”
