Aquaculture markets vastly available

MARKETS for aquaculture products in Fiji is vastly available,  participants of an  aquaculture workshop were told yesterday.

During the field training at the Ministry of Fisheries station in Dreketi,  Macuata,  senior agriculture office North Anand Prasad said the training was to euquip fish farmers to meet growing demand of maleya and tilapia fish.

“There is also a growing interest from communities so we are training them to have fish ponds in their existing farms., ” he said.

“With the ban of beach-de-mer,  aquaculture has been promoted to generate income for fish farmers. “
