It will be every man for himself come the much-anticipated Coca-Cola Games which is only 12 days away.

In the past two years, the annual Fiji Finals has taken a more competitive turn with schools seen as minnows taking their shot at the titles.

This year is no different with athletics experts sharing a common view that many surprises will be seen come May 2-4.

Queen Victoria School principal Timoci Vosailagi said it has been 31 years since they last won the overall boys title and it’s hard to call if that drought will come to an end this year.

“The Fiji Finals is anybody’s game now, you just have to see the zones for example, Nakasi won the Triple N boys title, and a student of Bhawani Dayal won the blue ribbon,” Vosailagi said.

“These are the things that will unfold come the national finals, its every man for himself fighting for the gold.”

After the respective zone meets, some are betting that 2024 will see new schools ascend to the top.

QVS finished fourth in the 2023 overall boys medal tally place with 13 medals won.

Marist Brothers High School is the boys champion while Adi Cakobau School holds the girls’ title.
