Andrea Bonanomi who finished in second place in the 21km Beast APAC Championship event during the 2024 Fiji Spartan held at the Aviva Racecourse in Nadi said Spartan was not about competing but helping the weakest to get through.

“It is beautiful here, where you get to meet new friends and instill in the values of never give up,” he said.

Bonanomi added that the beautiful part about the race was that everyone was enjoying.

“No one is competing against each other but helping the weakest, so we get energy fro everyone.”

The Italian runner successfully completed 30 obstacles in the race and called it challenging.

“The obstacles at the beginning it is quite tough, going inside the jungle here and we have a long transition to climb uphill to the Sleeping Giant.

“Apart from swimming across a river, we ran about 10km up and down the hill and it was great.”

Bonanomi said finishing in top five has automatically qualified him for the Spartan Beast World Championship which will be held in Abu Dhabi in December.
