AMIT Ahalawat, originally from India and living in Fiji for over a decade, is Regional Head of IT at Digicel Pacific and president of the Suva Marathon Club.

His running journey began unexpectedly with the 2020 Namosi Challenge, known as “Fiji’s Toughest Run,” turning what started as a one-off challenge into a lifelong passion.

Since that debut, Amit has completed every Namosi Challenge, including three full marathons and two half marathons, and is now preparing for his sixth appearance.

His training is disciplined and varied, combining hill runs, intervals, easy runs, and cross-training with AfterBurn Fiji.

His commitment is reflected in more than 1000 consecutive days of running.

Even when injuries or setbacks arise, Amit keeps moving by adjusting pace or distance rather than stopping altogether.

One of his toughest races came at the Suva Marathon 2025, when he finished despite severe illness. Still, he says his proudest achievement is his 1000-day running streak, which he sees as proof of mental resilience and consistency.

For Amit, running is about more than personal achievement.

The Namosi Challenge holds special meaning because it connects sport with community, nature, and purpose.

He values how the event highlights Fiji’s landscapes while also supporting local schools and communities through donations and tourism.

During long runs, Amit focuses on the present moment, taking each step as it comes and enjoying every mile instead of worrying about the distance ahead.

In the toughest moments, especially the steep climbs of Namosi, he draws strength from the scenery, volunteers, and the reward of crossing the finish line.

His advice to aspiring runners is simple: stay consistent, trust the process, and believe in progress.

Looking ahead, Amit hopes to complete an Ironman triathlon and remains committed to the Namosi Challenge for years to come.
