THE Ministry for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation hosted children from 10 homes during their sports day at the LDS Technical College in Tamavua yesterday.
Assistant director Child Services Unit Ela Tukutukulevu said this was a time to reflect for children and their guardians.
“This is an annual event that we honour our children in the homes and especially the hard work that their guardians have put in place for the past year,” she said. “This is the time where all our children get to meet each other and enjoy the fun that is provided for them.
“Also a chance for the care givers to mingle around and enjoy each others’ company.
“It is all about togetherness and celebrating life as we head on to another year. “We have 10 homes altogether and two are state-owned.
“This program is also part of living a healthy life as we try to avoid our children to suffer from any non communicable diseases (NCDs).
“We are grateful to all the homes that made it and we will continue to host these kinds of program in the near future.”
