It was an unforgettable experience for Swire Shipping Fijian Drua tight-head prop Jone Koroiduadua marking his first start of the season with a 20-10 victory over defending champions, the Crusaders.

Koroiduadua got his first start for the Drua this season during round three of Super Rugby Pacific over the weekend, and he has won the faith of head coach Mick Byrne and starts again against the Chiefs on Saturday.

The Drua defeated the Crusaders for the second time in a spin and the Nalebaleba in Nadroga man was grateful that he was one of the starting 15 players that played a role in this special win.

“It was a very important match for me because it marked my first start in a Super Rugby Pacific match this season. I prepared myself well throughout the week, physically, mentally and emotionally as well so I’m glad we got the win and I think I played well,” he said.

The 27-year-old, who was the second player that was ruled out by injury during the Flying Fijians’ Rugby World Cup campaign last year, added that he came into the match with a mission.

“I worked hard and I wanted to prove to myself that I had what it takes to play in Super Rugby against some of the players who have represented the All Blacks. I thank God for his plans, my friends and family for their support because that really pushed me to better my performance.”

The match against the Chiefs starts at 6.30pm.
