Taskforce to address construction conference resolutions

THE Construction Industry Council (CIC) is organizing taskforces to begin to address the resolutions formed as an outcome of its major conference held earlier in June this year.

This was the word from CIC president Gordon Jenkins after thee recently CIC monthly meeting last week.

The CIC committee had drew up a proposed resolutions from the plethora of issues and challenges that were debated and discussed at the conference.

These included training needs of the industry, bid to develop licensing platform, cyclone certification, standards and dispute resolution among many other. 

These resolutions are expected to be further finalized over discussions before it is submitted to Government for consideration.

Mr Jenkins said the purpose of the conference was to provide a forum for debate on issues affecting the industry.  |

Over the two days of deliberations the delegates agreed on a number of resolutions that addressed the main concerns of the industry.

“CIC promised to move towards implementation of the resolutions over the next year. We believe that the taskforces would be the best way to forward this process,” said Mr Jenkins.

Members of the task force will soon be announced.

Guest speaker Troy Irwin, program manager for the Fiji Higher Education Commission (FHEC), told CIC members at the meeting of the its ongoing activities towards improving higher education in the country and the commission looked forward to working with CIC towards this end.
