THE Fiji Airways Fiji 7s side is one of the favourites to win the Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco.

Former All Blacks, Sir Michael Jones, highlighted this and said the only challenge now for the Fijian side was to prepare themselves mentally for the games.

The tournament begins today.

“For the Fijians, at the Commonwealth Games, you know for whatever reason it just didn’t happen in that final, so I think that’s going to be their challenge mentally — overcoming that but they certainly have the players, potentials and they got the talent to win,” he said.

The “Ice Man”, as he was known on the field of rugby, said Fiji could not afford to lose a game.

“I know people talk about the South Africans but there’s a big Fijian community up there too and I think the inclusion of Semi Radradra and some other elite and top-class players to add to the already enormous strengths and potentials the Fiji seven’s team has, I think they’ll be hard to beat.”
