Community policing notes prevalence of abuse of women, children

A LOT of cases relating to the abuse and assault of women and children have surfaced during community policing.

This was highlighted by Senior Superintendent of Police Waqa Cavuilati who stated that offence against women and children have been identified as crimes that continued to increase.

“This is an area where we get a lot of questions from the community and this indicates that this is still the underlying issues,” said SSP Cavuilati.

He said they were stepping up their awareness programs.

The Senior Superintendent of Police highlighted that the idea behind the community policing was to allow the community to come forward with the problems they were facing.
