A GRANT of $7500 has been distributed by Vodafone ATH Fiji Foundation to three community clubs in the province of Ra to fund income-generating projects.
Nausori Women’s Club, Rewasa Youth Club, and Lado Youth Club, which does bee-keeping and poultry farming, received $2500 each.
Vodafone Chief Marketing Officer Rajnesh Prasad said they were committed to go beyond their social investment strategy in connecting people with such opportunities.
Rewasa Youth Club president Ilikana Rogoi said they were very grateful to have received this grant to start up their poultry project.
“We expect to generate a total of $1500 in each harvesting of honey from our bee-keeping project, which will provide a source of income and employment for the youth members,” said Timilai Bai, the President of the Lado Youth Club.
“Through this grant, we will purchase five double Beehive boxes, which will provide an extra source of income and will assist our rural women to better support our family,” said Ani Ranadi, the president for the Nausori Women’s Club.
A total of 36 grants worth $100,000 have been approved by Vodafone ATH Fiji Foundation Trustees for disbursement in this quarter of the year.
