CRUSHING season at the Rarawai Mill in Ba has officially begun.

Operations at the mill have started after the facility suffered greatly during flooding caused by Cyclones Josie and Keni this April.

Local Government Minister Parveen Kumar said despite the damage suffered by farmers, the Rarawai Mill was expected to crush 595,000 tonnes of sugarcane this year.

He said this included 468,000 tonnes within Rarawai sectors and 127,000 from Penang sectors.
