Sports programs under Team Up Fiji have benefited from the help provided by the Australian Government in promoting community development.
Australia has extended its support for the development of sports programs compromising more than 30 partnerships across Asia- Pacific.
The Australian High Commission Charge d’ Affaires to Fiji John Williams said he was delighted Australia would be able to continue such a powerful vehicle to support inclusive community-level development in Fiji and across the Pacific.
‘Within the Team Up supported programs in Fiji, you will find inspiring coaches, development officers and volunteers, who are all passionate about breaking barriers to ensure women, girls and people with disabilities enjoy the benefits of sports,” he said.
“We couldn’t be more excited to build on the success of the Team Up program that embodies the spirit of vuvale, strengthening bonds between Australia and Fiji through sports.”
NRL in Fiji In Country manager Ema Levaci manages the “League for Life” program said they were thrilled about the extension of Team Up Fiji as this meant they could continue to deliver the league.
“The program uses the power of rugby league to make positive impacts in people’s lives, particularly focusing on empowering girls, women and persons with disabilities,” she said.
Team Up programs are delivered in partnership with sporting and non-sporting organisations with technical support from Team Up Fiji staff in Fiji, Papua New Guinea and Australia.
Team Up builds on more than two decades of Australian Government sport for development programs, activities, and partnerships in Asia- Pacific.
