Chief of Intelligence and Investigations Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Sakeo Raikaci says investigations into FijiFirst party general secretary Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum are continuing.

“After taking over the office of Chief of Intelligence and Investigations, I have reviewed the investigation files with necessary guidance provided to the task force,” Mr Raikaci said.

“They are now working on these as we want to ensure due processes are followed with what has been gathered so far, before we proceed further.”

The People’s Alliance general secretary Sakiasi Ditoka had filed a complaint against Mr Sayed-Khaiyum on December 22 last year for allegedly inciting racial hatred and violence during a media conference in Suva.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum claimed there were stoning incidents highlighted by the police and he said that demonstrated the divisive character of The People’s Alliance leader Sitiveni Rabuka.

The Fiji Police Force had issued a person of interest alert on December 29, 2022, while Mr Sayed-Khaiyum was away in Australia.

He was questioned by the police when he returned to the country.
