PACIFIC Energy gifted $10,000 to the National Council for Persons with Disabilities at an event to mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities last Friday.
Pacific Energy Business manager Amit Maharaj said the company acknowledged the council’s efforts in promoting the rights, welfare and inclusion of persons with disabilities.
He said the purpose of the celebration was to increase awareness of disability issues and rally support for the dignity, rights, and wellbeing of people with disabilities.
Mr Maharaj said the theme “disability is not inability” was apt given what his team witnessed in terms of the skills expressed by students living with disabilities in their art and craft work.
“Initiatives like this are in line with Pacific Energy’s corporate social responsibility philosophy, both at the group and local levels, and I’m pleased to confirm that we will be contributing $10,000 to the National Council for Persons with Disabilities,” he said.
