An annual 7s rugby tournament on Koro Island has been revived to help students of Nabasovi District School.

The 7s tournament, which started on Thursday, ends today with the cup winner walking away with the $3000 main prize.

Tournament co-ordinator Iliesa Vonu said 20 teams were competing including a team from Ovalau, St John Draiba and one from Suva – Natewa Brothers from Vatuwaqa.

“It is a fundraising event where the proceeds will be used to build footpaths or walkways in and around the school for our children to help in their education,” Vonu said.

“This event will expose our sporting talents, especially in netball and rugby and at the same time help improve life in Koro, and our children’s education.”

Children of Navaga, Tavua and Nabasovi villages attend the school. Meanwhile, the eliminations start at 8am tomorrow, Saturday.

Fixtures: Cawalailai v Mudu, Natewa Bros v Police Koro, Buakala v Nakodo I, Bucabuca I v Nasau I, Nabuna I v Namacu, Narocake v Naqamai, Rawalevu v Nacamaki.
