The Fiji Primary Schools Football Association (FPSFA) will introduce the girls under-14 age group category during the 2023 Inter-District Championship.

This is part of its program to develop girls football. FPSFA president Dina Mani Mudaliar said next year’s IDC would be bigger and better.

He said the boys under-12 division was also likely to be reintroduced.

“We want to see all the districts hold their inter-primary competition,” Mudaliar said.

“This must include the girls under-14 division. Then there will be zonal playoffs from which the two best teams will qualify for the FPSFA IDC 2023.

“The zones will be from Nalawa to Ba and Lautoka to Navosa. Theere will be separate zones for the Northern and Southern divisions.

“For the IDC, the girls division will be in the under-14 while for the boys it will be under-14 and under-12 which is the plan at the moment.”

The venue for the next IDC is yet to be decided.
