LIKE New Zealand, Japan has named four Fijian players in its Rugby 7s World Cup team.

The four are Kameli Soejima, Jone Naikabula, Jo Lilidamu and Jo Seru.

Soejima, Lilidamu and Naikabula have already represented Japan on the World 7s series, while Seru will make his debut against Uruguay in San Francisco on July 20.

Should Japan win this match, its Fijian players will have to face their fellow countrymen – the Fiji Airways national 7s team – in the do-or-die pool game.

Soejima was part of the Japanese side that lost to Fiji in the semi-final of the 2016 Rio Olympics.
