The Islands Electric-sponsored Business House Lawn Bowls tournament in Nadi gets more exciting, especially among new players, as it rolls towards the business end this week.

The Nadi Sports and Social Club greens had been the weekly meeting place for corporate representatives in Nadi, Lautoka and parts of the West in the inaugural event.

The Fiji-07 and Tri-Dees teams meet in the cup final after causing upsets in the semi-finals this week.

They ousted strong favourites Portion Pak, skipped by Bobby Prasad and Wild Tigers, led by former national snooker and bowls rep Sam Padiyachi on Thursday.

Club bowls director Sanjeet Sen said the cup, plate, bowl and shield finals would be held next Thursday.

“If you in Nadi or West next Thursday, come and watch some exciting bowling being played in a fun and friendly rivalry atmosphere by people who take to sports after a hard day at work to relax, keep fit and refresh,” Sen said.

“You support will encourage them, especially the new players, who now have found a new healthy lifestyle that can help them to be more productive at work.”

He said Commonwealth Games reps Rajinesh Raju and Kushal Pillay would lead the Islands Electric team against Munesh Kumar’s Fiji Airports team in the plate final. Harrisons and XL Sports battle in the bowl final while surprise package Fiji Airways v Tourism Fiji in the shield final.

“All 16 participating teams will be part of the action next Thursday. Sponsor Raymond Singh has been very generous to promote the newcomers with bonus prizes week in week out. The tournament will be rounded off with 80 prizes for all participants followed by a cocktail and buffet dinner.

“It has indeed been the biggest business house tournament to be staged at Nadi Sports and Social club.”
