THE Chinese Cultural Centre (CCC) in Fiji officially launched the “Skyline Chinese Contemporary Architecture Exhibition” in Suva yesterday.
During the launch, CCC director Xianfu Deng said they had selected 76 Chinese contemporary architectural project photos on Chinese traditional and modern architecture for the exhibition.
Mr Xianfu said these projects not only mirrored the Chinese society and people’s daily lives at all aspects, but also presented the new Chinese architectural landscape since the early 21st century.
“In the past two and a half years, we have held many photo exhibitions such as landscape of inner Mongolia, stories of Chinese people and intangible cultural heritage,” Mr Xianfu said.
“However, the theme of this exhibition, architecture is quite different. It is more professional because contemporary architecture is the perfect combination of art and technology.”
He added through this window of Chinese contemporary architecture, visitors could gain insights into contemporary architectural art under continuing rapid development in China and feel impressed by new generation Chinese architects and global trends.
The Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to Fiji, Zhi Li, said the Chinese architecture was in a period of great revolution and attracted widespread attention from the world.
Ms Zhi said the exhibition provided a good opportunity for the Chinese and the Fijian people to exchange ideas on art, technology and contemporary architecture.
