New Zealand High Commissioner Charlotte Darlow says her country strongly supports the development of the next generation of Fijian leaders as she renewed New Zealand’s platinum partnership with Leadership Fiji.

Ms Darlow said through the partnership, New Zealand continued to offer the opportunity to aspiring Fijian leaders “to enhance and advance their knowledge and skill sets”.

Leadership Fiji board chair William Parkinson said they were grateful to the New Zealand High Commission for their belief in Leadership Fiji and “for their generosity to continue supporting Leadership Fiji in developing, mentoring and nurturing Fiji’s next generation of leaders”.

The New Zealand High Commission has been supporting the Leadership Fiji program development for more than two decades.

The program, since its inception in 2001, has focused on professional, personal and community development.

This year’s Leadership Fiji program has 30 diverse participants and has had over 500 graduates who have gone through the nine-month program.

Mr Parkinson said it was through partnerships such as these that Leadership Fiji was able to fulfill its vision of developing and enhancing the quality of leaders in Fiji.

He said Leadership Fiji’s long-term strategic goal was to establish a leadership academy for Fiji and the Pacific and to expand its offering of leadership programs from its current program to across all levels of society.
