Rewa football team coach Marika Rodu is calling for fair control from referees in the Digicel Premier League competition.
The former national rep claimed some decisions made by the referee yesterday in their match against Labasa affected how they played. Rewa and Labasa drew 0-0.
Rodu said the referee was not fair in his decisions which included an incident where a Rewa player was elbowed by an opposition. It resulted in tussle between Ilisoni Colaivalu of Labasa and Bruce Hughes.
A yellow and a red card were issued. Rodu said in this type of match, a senior referee should be in control.
“Both cards could have been avoided and the referee would have given his decision,” Rodu said.
“Referees should be on their toes because every decision they make can affect how the teams perform.-
“Physically we had progressed from last week, the match today was intense as Labasa came in with a motive to beat us.
“It’s not easy to win this kind of game, but we continued to build our discipline and improve our attacking and finishing.” He said Rewa’s aim was to book a semi-final spot.
