The Nadi International Airport has achieved reaccreditation by the Airports Council International’s (ACI) Airport Health Reaccreditation for its COVID-19 health and safety measures.

And this achievement has been commended, particularly ahead of next week’s official opening of the country’s international border.

Fiji Airports chairperson Geoffrey Shaw said the confirmation of the reaccreditation by Airports Council International could not have come at a better time as they looked forward to the resumption of air travel from December 1.

“Nadi International Airport was the first airport in the South Pacific to achieve the ACI Airport Health Accreditation in November 2020,” Mr Shaw said.

“This reaccreditation will further enhance passenger confidence to travel to Fiji.

“Our priority is and will always be the health, safety and well-being of our passengers.

“We look forward to next Wednesday with great excitement and to welcome our first Fiji Airways flight, marking the resumption of tourism.

“It has been a long wait and we eagerly anticipate the arrival of passengers back knowing they will be embraced with the genuine warmth and hospitality for which Fiji is renowned.

“We are expecting close to 30,000 passengers to travel through Nadi International Airport in December alone.

“The ACI Airport Health Reaccreditation provides our passengers the reassurance and comfort of travelling safely through our international airport.”

Airports Council International Asia-Pacific Director-General Stefano Baronci said they were encouraged by the news of Nadi International Airport being reaccredited under ACI Airport Health Accreditation program.

“This reaccreditation serves to reassure passengers that internationally-recognised safety measures remain in place for the resumption of travel to Fiji,” Mr Baronci said.

“Fiji Airports’ efforts are admirable in the midst of a troubling year and as borders to Fiji begin to reopen, Nadi International Airport is well-equipped and on par with other international airports to safely welcome back travellers.”
