Penrith’s chief executive officer Brian Fletcher is confident the Panthers will be able to secure the services of star Fijian Viliame Kikau into the next season.

“We’re very confident that we will be able to come to an agreement with his management and have him on the roster for another three or four years as well,” Fletcher told Big Sports Breakfast.

“At this stage, we’ve got our roster done for 2022 — we’ve got 26 players signed, the only big-name one left for us to sign for the future is Viliame Kikau.”

One of the top form players of the National Rugby League, Kikau has scored 29 tries in 96 games for the Panthers since making his debut in 2017 and is reported to be set to rack in more than $800,000 as his value skyrockets recently due to his impressive form.

The 26-year-old Bau man, will be available for other clubs for the 2023 season from November 1 this year, with North Queensland and St George Illawarra already eyeing the demolishing forward.

“He’s been there ever since he was a young player and he has got a home out in Penrith, and he’s very good friends with all the Polynesian boys.”

Fletcher also added that negotiations had made “every indication is that he will be staying”.
