Suspect to make second bail attempt

Mohammed Isoof, who is accused of the Nausori Highlands multiple murders, will file a second application for bail this month.

Mr Isoof is approaching his second year in custody.

According to defence counsel Iqbal Khan, Mr Isoof’s case will be called in the High Court in Lautoka on August 26 when they would make their second attempt at applying for bail.

The New Zealand citizen is alleged to have caused the deaths of five people, whose bodies were found in the Nausori Highlands in August, 2019.

The 62-year-old is alleged to have killed carpenter Nirmal Kumar, his wife, Usha Devi, 54, their daughter, Nileshni Kajal, 34, and Nileshni Kajal’s two daughters Sana, 11, and Samara, 8.

The matter has been adjourned to August 26 for mention.
