Weather watch: Heavy swell warning for coastal areas

A high pressure system to the far southwest of Fiji directs heavy swells over the southern coastal areas of Viti Levu, Kadavu, Beqa, Vatulele, Southern Lomaiviti and Southern Lau group.

The weather bulletin issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi this afternoon says expect heavy swells of up to 4 meters that may lead to coastal inundation and sea flooding of coastal areas today for the Southern coastal areas of Viti Levu, Kadavu, Beqa, Vatulele, Southern Lomaiviti and Southern Lau group.

Partly cloudy with brief showers over Lau and Lomaiviti group, Kadavu

and southern parts of Viti Levu.

Elsewhere, mainly fine. Cool at night.

For mariners, expect moderate to fresh southerly winds and moderate to rough seas.

The outlook for Wednesday expect partly cloudy conditions with a brief showers over the eastern parts of the larger islands (Viti Levu and Vanua Levu).
