Expect increased hospitalisations and deaths as COVID-19 cases escalate, says Health Ministry permanent secretary Dr James Fong.
He made the comment as he announced 431 new cases and two deaths to COVID-19 for the 24 hours to 8am yesterday.
Dr Fong said as of 8am yesterday Fiji has 3896 active cases in isolation and recorded 24 deaths to the deadly virus.
“Be alert to the symptoms, which include runny nose, nasal congestion, cough, sore throat, fever, headache, body ache, or diarrhoea,” he said.
“More severe symptoms, which could indicate a medical emergency, include difficulty breathing, persistent pain or pressure in the chest, severe headache for a few days, new confusion, inability to wake or stay awake; and pale, gray, or blue-coloured skin, lips or nail beds.”
